Terms of Use

Effective Date: October 23, 2026

1. Agreement to These Terms

These Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern your use of Compose with Me, including the website at composewithme.com and our mobile apps (together, the “Service”). The Service is operated by CCM Tech Services, LLC, a Florida limited liability company (“we,” “us,” or “our”).

By creating an account, signing in, or using the Service, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service. Subscriptions are sold to individuals for personal use; see Section 4 for how this applies to the Teacher Tier.

2. Accounts

  • When an account is set up, we ask for the account holder's birth month and year so we can follow the children's privacy rules in Section 3. You agree to answer truthfully, to provide accurate information, and to keep it up to date.
  • The Service is offered only to people who live in the United States or a U.S. territory (American Samoa, Guam, the Northern Mariana Islands, Puerto Rico, or the U.S. Virgin Islands).
  • You are responsible for keeping access to your email and sign-in codes secure, and for all activity that happens under your account. Tell us promptly at support@composewithme.com if you believe your account has been used without permission.
  • Accounts are personal. Do not share, sell, or transfer your account or subscription.

3. Children's Use

Compose with Me is built to be safe for young musicians. It has no advertising, no public profiles, and no chat or messaging features. Even so, children need an adult involved:

  • Under 13: Children under 13 may not create or hold an account of their own. A parent or legal guardian may create an account in the parent's own name, agree to our Parent Notice, and let the child use it. The parent's consent is completed when the parent starts a paid subscription. A teacher may not create an account for a child.
  • Teens (13 up to the age of majority): Teens may use the Service only with the permission of a parent or legal guardian, who agrees to these Terms on the teen's behalf. The age of majority is 18 in most places, 19 in Alabama and Nebraska, and 21 in Mississippi and Puerto Rico. On our website, a teen can't buy, change, or cancel a subscription: when a teen picks a plan, we email the parent or guardian they name a link to review and pay for it, and that parent or guardian manages the subscription from then on. In our Android app, a teen's account can subscribe through Google Play, as described in Section 8.
  • Parental responsibility: The parent or guardian is responsible for the child's use of the Service, for any purchases made on the account (see “Purchases by minors without permission” in Section 8), and for deciding whether the child may join a teacher's studio or ensemble group.
  • Purchases: Only an adult may buy or manage a subscription.
  • Display names: We recommend that children use a first name, nickname, or initials — never a full name, address, school name, or other identifying detail — as their display name.

A parent or guardian may review or delete a child's account at any time; see Section 4 of our Privacy Policy. If you believe a child under 13 is using the Service without parental consent, contact us and we will delete the account.

4. Teacher Use

The Teacher Tier lets a music teacher run a studio, create practice assignments, and share assignment or group codes with students. A teacher can see a student's display name, practice streak, practice time, recently practiced song titles, and assignment completion. Teachers never see a student's email address or account details. The Teacher Tier does not include subscriptions for students: each student needs their own Student subscription (or a higher plan) to join a studio or receive assignments.

Personal use only; no school affiliation. The Teacher Tier is a personal subscription purchased by an individual teacher for their own use. It is not sold, licensed, or invoiced to schools, school districts, or other educational institutions, and it is not an official, approved, or district-provided education product. Compose with Me and CCM Tech Services, LLC are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or under contract with any school, school district, or state or local education agency. A teacher who subscribes does so personally, not as a purchase by or on behalf of any school or employer.

No chat, messaging, or AI. The Service has no chat, direct messaging, video, voice calling, or artificial-intelligence features. Teachers and students cannot message each other through Compose with Me. The only text a teacher can show a student is what the teacher types into an assignment (such as its title and instructions) or into the name of a group or shared song.

If you use the Service as a teacher, you agree that:

  • You will use it only for legitimate music instruction, and you are solely responsible for the assignments, instructions, and materials you share.
  • Before inviting a minor, you have the permission required by the student's parent or guardian, and by your school or employer where applicable.
  • You will follow all laws, school policies, and professional standards that apply to working with students, including those covering student privacy and appropriate contact with minors.
  • You will not use assignment text or group names to ask for personal information, to arrange contact outside the Service, or to share anything inappropriate, harassing, or unrelated to music instruction.

We are not responsible for teacher conduct. Teachers are independent users. They are not our employees, agents, or contractors, and we do not screen, background-check, certify, supervise, or endorse any teacher. We are not a party to the relationship between a teacher and a student or family. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not responsible or liable for any teacher's conduct, instruction, communications, or content, whether inside or outside the Service, including any conduct that oversteps professional or personal boundaries. Parents and guardians are responsible for choosing and supervising the teachers their children work with.

To report a concern about a teacher, email support@composewithme.com. We may remove content or suspend accounts in response. If a child may be in danger, contact local law enforcement first.

5. Your Content

“Your Content” means the songs, compositions, notation, imported files, titles, assignment text, and other material you create, import, or share in the Service. You keep ownership of Your Content.

You give us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to store, copy, display, and transmit Your Content only as needed to run the Service — for example, to sync it across your devices, show it to the groups and students you choose to share it with, and back it up. This license ends when you delete Your Content or your account, except for copies in routine backups that expire on their normal schedule.

6. Copyright, Plagiarism & Infringement

Respect the work of other composers, arrangers, and publishers. By creating, importing, or sharing content in the Service, you confirm that you own it or have the right to use and share it that way.

  • No plagiarism: Do not present someone else's composition, arrangement, or notation as your own original work, including in assignments or shared group songs.
  • No infringement: Do not upload, import, transcribe, or share copyrighted music unless it is in the public domain, you have permission from the rights holder, or your use is otherwise permitted by law. Most modern songs, film and game music, and published method-book arrangements are protected by copyright.
  • Your responsibility alone: We do not review, pre-screen, or verify the originality or copyright status of Your Content or anyone else's. You are solely responsible for what you add to and share through the Service. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not responsible or liable for any plagiarism, copyright infringement, or other intellectual-property violation committed by any user, and you agree to cover any claims, losses, or costs that arise from your own violations (see Section 12).
  • Built-in songs: The songs included with the Service are provided for personal practice and instruction within the Service. Do not copy, resell, or redistribute them outside it.

Reporting infringement (DMCA). If you believe content in the Service infringes your copyright, send a notice to support@composewithme.com with the subject line “Copyright Notice” that includes:

  • your physical or electronic signature;
  • a description of the copyrighted work you believe is infringed;
  • where the material appears in the Service, in enough detail for us to find it;
  • your name, mailing address, telephone number, and email address;
  • a statement that you have a good-faith belief the use is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law; and
  • a statement, under penalty of perjury, that the information in your notice is accurate and that you are the copyright owner or authorized to act on the owner's behalf.

We will remove or disable access to material that we believe in good faith is infringing. If your content was removed and you believe that was a mistake, you may send a counter-notice to the same address. We will suspend or terminate the accounts of users who repeatedly infringe.

7. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • use the Service for anything unlawful, harmful, harassing, hateful, or sexually explicit;
  • put personal information about anyone else, especially a child, into song titles, assignments, or group names;
  • access another person's account, or share invite or assignment codes with people they were not meant for;
  • probe, scrape, overload, or interfere with the Service, or get around its security, usage limits, or subscription features; or
  • copy, resell, or reverse-engineer the Service, except where the law allows it.

To report a studio or a studio song that breaks these rules, use its Report (flag) button or email support@composewithme.com. We review every report and may remove content or suspend accounts that break these rules.

8. Subscriptions & Billing

Access to the Service requires a paid subscription, after the free trial described below for accounts that qualify. Current plans and prices are listed on our Plans page, along with each plan's limits, such as how many songs you can save and how many studios you can create. Practice is unlimited for normal personal and classroom use; we may slow or block automated or abusive activity that strains the Service.

  • Free trial: Eligible adult and teen accounts get one free 7-day trial of the Student plan (not the Advanced or Teacher plan), starting when the account answers the age question. No payment details are needed, nothing is charged, and the trial does not turn into a paid subscription on its own: when it ends, the app asks you to choose a paid plan, and your saved songs are kept. Accounts a parent sets up for a child under 13 are not eligible for the trial and need a paid subscription, because the parent's first payment completes the consent described in our Parent Notice. One trial per person; we may end trials obtained by creating extra accounts.
  • Web purchases: Subscriptions bought on our website are sold and processed through Link, a service of Stripe, which acts as the reseller and merchant of record for the transaction and handles payment, sales tax, receipts, and payment support. Link's own terms also apply to those purchases. We never see or store your full card details.
  • Android purchases: Subscriptions bought in our Android app are processed by Google Play Billing and are subject to Google Play's terms. Google, not us, takes the payment. A teen's account can subscribe in the Android app, and Google Play's own rules and parental controls (such as Family Link purchase approvals) decide whether a parent must approve the purchase.
  • Automatic renewal: Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each monthly or annual billing period at the then-current price until you cancel. Cancel at least 24 hours before renewal to avoid the next charge.
  • Cancellation: On the web, cancel through “Manage Billing” on the Plans page or at link.com. On Android, cancel in your Google Play subscriptions. For a teen's account, the parent or guardian who paid cancels through the billing sign-in link we emailed them, using the email address they paid with. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current paid period, and you keep access until then.
  • Plan changes: Upgrades and downgrades are made through Manage Billing and may be prorated.
  • Refunds: Except where required by law, payments are non-refundable and we do not refund partial billing periods. You may still request a refund by emailing support@composewithme.com, and we review each request individually. Google Play purchases also follow Google Play's refund policies. Purchases a minor made without permission are handled as described next.
  • Purchases by minors without permission: Parents and guardians are responsible for making sure their children cannot access their bank accounts, credit or debit cards, or other payment methods, including payment methods saved in an app store account. If someone under the age of majority started, renewed, or upgraded a subscription with your payment method without your permission, you may request a refund by emailing support@composewithme.com from the email address on the payment. The following conditions apply:
    • Requests within 60 days: A charge is eligible for a full refund only if we receive your request within 60 days of the date of that charge.
    • Requests after 60 days: We will review a request received more than 60 days after a charge, but we do not guarantee a refund. If we approve one, it may be a partial refund rather than a full refund.
    • Proof required: Every request must include (1) proof of purchase, such as the receipt (for a Google Play purchase, the order number on the Google Play receipt, which starts with GPA.), and (2) a bank or card statement showing the charge in question, with all other sensitive information redacted. We will not process a request without both.
    • Fraud and misuse: We reserve the right to decline any request, or to limit any refund, if we suspect fraudulent activity or misuse of this refund process.
    If we approve a refund, we cancel the subscription. Refunds for Google Play purchases are issued through Google Play. You can also ask Google Play for a refund directly under its own policies.
  • Price changes: We may change prices in the future. We will notify you before a change applies to your subscription, and it will take effect at your next renewal.

9. Our Intellectual Property

The Service, including its software, design, logos, the Compose with Me name, and its built-in content, belongs to CCM Tech Services, LLC or its licensors. We give you a limited, personal, non-transferable, revocable license to use the Service for its intended purpose while your account is in good standing. No other rights are granted.

10. Disclaimers

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available.” To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not promise that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that data will never be lost, so keep your own copies of work that matters to you. Tuner and pitch-detection results depend on your device and environment and may not be exact. The Service is a practice aid, not a substitute for qualified music instruction.

11. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, CCM Tech Services, LLC and its owners, employees, and contractors will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost data, profits, or goodwill, arising from your use of the Service or from the conduct or content of any other user, including teachers. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose or US $50. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain of these limits, so they may not all apply to you.

12. Indemnification

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless CCM Tech Services, LLC and its owners, employees, and contractors from any claims, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from Your Content, your violation of these Terms, your violation of anyone else's rights (including copyright), or, if you are a teacher, your conduct toward your students.

13. Suspension & Termination

You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time from Settings > Danger Zone. We may suspend or terminate your access, or remove content, if you violate these Terms, if required by law, or to protect users, especially children. Deleting your account does not cancel a Google Play subscription, so cancel that separately. Sections 5, 6, and 9 through 15 survive termination.

14. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida and applicable U.S. federal law, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute will be brought in the state or federal courts located in Leon County, Florida, and you consent to their jurisdiction. This does not remove any consumer protection you have under the laws of the place where you live.

15. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will change the effective date above, and for significant changes we will notify you by email or in the app. Continuing to use the Service after changes take effect means you accept them. If these Terms and any other statement about the Service conflict, these Terms control. If any part of these Terms is found unenforceable, the rest remains in effect.

16. Feedback

You can send us feedback from Settings > Feedback or by email. Sending feedback is always optional. When you do:

  • We read it and take it into consideration, but we are not required to act on it, make any change it suggests, or adopt any idea in it.
  • We aim to reply within 72 hours, to your account's email address. That is a goal, not a guarantee, and some messages may not need or get a reply.
  • It must follow Section 7. We do not tolerate offensive, rude, or bad language: feedback that contains it is automatically disregarded and is not delivered to our team, read, or answered. Repeated abusive messages may lead to suspension under Section 13.
  • Please leave out passwords, payment details, and personal information about yourself or anyone else, especially a child, beyond what we need to help you.
  • You agree that we may use your ideas and suggestions to improve the Service, without any obligation or payment to you. This does not change who owns Your Content (Section 5).
